Jubilee Buildings, situated on Douglas promenade, behind the Jubilee clock is an iconic building located at the gateway to Douglas, as such we believe that this building deserved to be lit properly and effectively. Luminaires has provided lighting solutions to many buildings previously, but none with such a prime location.
Our brief was to provide a lighting scheme that was architecturally effective, lighting the building in such a way that it would be a prominent feature of the promenade scene. Whilst doing this, it is our responsibility to ensure that light pollution is greatly reduced or eradicated.
We achieved this through the specification and location of high quality architectural LED lights by iGuzzini. The ability to use high quality LED lights allows us to limit the energy consumption of this lighting scheme, this is of great benefit due to the size of the building.
Using specific beam width luminaires, we were able to illuminate the vertical elements of the building, using the controlled beam we ensured that the light did not escape the facade of the building creating a greatly effective night time scene.
Jubilee Buildings won Most Innovative Project at the Isle of Man Energy Expo 2014.
Jubilee Buildings has been given a ‘Highly Commended’ Outdoor Project of the Year accreditation at the Lux awards 2014.
